Why Creative Expression?

Creative expression involves the use of various art modalities to reveal thoughts and feelings. People engage in it through various media including painting, sculpture, photography, writing, poetry, drama, music, and dance, among other creative forms. Creative expression connects body and mind and supports individuals in sensing themselves in a new way. It offers a pathway for participants into the present moment and allows them the opportunity to communicate in a new language. Creative expression helps in developing alternative perspectives about one’s self and the world. The very act of being creative provides a sense of personal accomplishment and enhanced self-confidence.
